Presumably Jan Van Campenhout
Early 20th century; probably Antwerp, Belgium
Oil on canvas, mounted to a wood panel in a folk-art painted frame

Approximate size: 8 (h) x 9 (w) x 1.75 (d) in.

This early 20th century academic painting is executed in the manner of 18th century genre still-life paintings in which fruits and other table accouterments are showcased. The signature on the painting: Jan Van Campenhout, suggests it could be an early work in that artist’s career, if the same artist. Campenhout’s later works of the 1930s-40s encompassed subjects typical of the era.

Particularly attractive about this painting is the beautifully painted folk-art frame which accompanies it.  The work is an overall delightful piece suitable for an Old-World European home, kitchen nook or breakfast area.

Condition commensurate with age.
